The majority of aftermarket projector headlights are not “Plug & Play”, a term misused by many online auto parts distributors. Aftermarket projector headlights have two major functions. One function is the projector headlight which can simply be plugged into the car. And the second function is known as the halos or angel eyes which will require a separate connection, because most cars do not come with halos direct from the factory.

Let’s begin by identifying a projector headlight and the two loose wires in the back of the unit. Most of the time it looks something like this.

In some cases the wires may have different colors to separate the ground wire from the power wire. Most of the time the black or white wires are usually the ground wire. The easies way is just to experiment with the two wires to test which is which.

The next step is where to connect the halo wires. I would recommend connecting the halo wires to the vehicle¡¦s parking light wiring harness so that when you turn on your parking lights the halos turn on as well. First connect the ground wire from your aftermarket light to the ground wire on your vehicles parking wiring harness. Next connect the power wire from your aftermarket lights to your parking light wire, and not the signal light wire. This is because if you connect your power wire to the vehicles signal light wire, this will cause the halos to blink whenever you turn on your signal lights.

To connect the loose wires together I recommend using a wire clamp (t-tap), it is the safest way. Wire clamps can be found at any auto part or electrical stores. The wire clamp will properly connect the two wires together without any cutting of any of the wires. It looks like this. When you are finished it will look something like this. Test the lights to see if they are working properly by turning on your parking light.  If it does not work properly, here is where you experiment with the different wires to see if maybe you connected them incorrectly.
